I received every day $1.55 from the gambling
house at No.2 Wa Lane for Indian Sergeants Nos. 572 and 586.
No.586 wore a crimson sash, I began to make the
payments about 2 years ago.I paid 80 cents a day to 586 and
70 cents a day to 572.I kept 5 cents a day for myself as
vages.
I paid 586 at uncertain intervals. Whenever I
saw him I paid him. I paid him up to the time he was dismissed
He was dismissed about the 12th.moon of last year. I also paid
him 80 cents a day from the Cheung Hing Street gambling house
during the same period.
I did not pay the money personally to 572.I
used to pay it to Lo Chau a Chinese Constable. After he left
the service in the 11th.moon of last year, I still paid it to
him (Lo Chau) at the corner of Pound Lane. I also paid Lo Chau
70 cents a day for 572 on behalf of the Cheung Hing Street
Gambling House.Lo Chau lived at HungHam after he left the Po-
lice. He used to come over to Victoria to buy miscellaneous
articles for his shop at Hungham.
No.586 came and beat the fokis before he was
paid any money. He then asked me to get some bribes for him. I
